Frequently asked questions
How it works, choosing a model, ordering, delivery, warranties: find the answers to the questions we are asked most often.
The Venturi conveyor
What is a Venturi pneumatic conveyor?
It is a conveying vacuum pump that uses compressed air and the Venturi effect to draw in and convey materials (powders, granules, chips, small parts) through a hose, with no motor and no moving parts.
How does it work?
Compressed air enters through the side port and is accelerated by nozzles pointing towards the outlet. This Venturi effect creates strong vacuum at the inlet: the material is drawn in, then propelled through the hose to the discharge point.
What is the difference between the VTRF and VTRA ranges?
What materials can be conveyed?
Powders, granules, grain, plastic regrind, machining chips, edge trim, paper, small parts… The material must pass freely through the conveyor’s inner bore. For wet, sticky, highly abrasive or flammable materials, describe your application to us before ordering.
What material are the conveyors made of?
The body is made of anodised aluminium: light, sturdy and corrosion-resistant, it suits the vast majority of industrial uses. For highly abrasive or corrosive materials, please contact us to discuss your application.
Does a Venturi conveyor need maintenance?
Very little: it has no moving parts, so no mechanical wear, and its straight-through bore prevents clogging. Simply supply it with dry, filtered compressed air.
Can it be used in an ATEX zone?
Unless expressly stated otherwise, our conveyors are not certified for use in explosive atmospheres (ATEX). For flammable dusts or materials, please contact us before ordering.
At what temperature can it operate?
From −20 °C to +80 °C, with dry, filtered compressed air.
Choosing and installing your conveyor
How do I choose the right model?
The choice depends on the material (size, density, abrasiveness), the required flow, the conveying distance and height. Compare the models on the VTRF and VTRA pages, or describe your project and we will recommend the right model free of charge.
What size of material can a conveyor handle?
The inner bore (ØA) should be at least three times larger than the largest particle dimension. Our models range from Ø 6.5 mm (VTRF 2-3, VTRA 250) to Ø 38 mm (VTRF 15-6): a small model is enough for fine powders, a large bore is preferable for granules, regrind and small parts.
Over what distance and height can material be conveyed?
Flow and vacuum decrease with the length and height of the line. For several metres of conveying, choose a model with spare flow capacity (a VTRA if the height is significant), a smooth-bore hose and long-radius bends. Describe your installation to us and we will recommend the right model.
What air pressure is required?
VTRF conveyors run between 4 and 6 bar, VTRA conveyors at 5.5 bar, with 7 bar maximum in both cases. Air must be dry and filtered for optimum performance.
How much compressed air does a conveyor use?
It depends on the model and setting: from 85 NL/min (VTRF 2-3 at 2.8 bar) to 1,790 NL/min (VTRA 750 at −68 kPa). Each product page gives the exact consumption of the model: check that your compressor can supply this flow continuously.
Which hose should I use?
VTRF conveyors are connected by push-fit: use a flexible hose whose inner diameter matches the conveyor’s outer diameter (ØB), secured with a clamp. VTRA conveyors have female BSPP (G) threaded ports. In all cases, a smooth-bore hose and long-radius bends limit flow losses.
How do I adjust the flow?
On a VTRF, with the supply pressure (4 to 6 bar): the higher it is, the stronger the suction. On a VTRA, with the rotating ring, by hand and without tools: you favour either flow or vacuum.
Where can I find dimensions and drawings?
Every product page and range page shows a dimensioned drawing and complete tables: dimensions, connections, performance and weight. The PDF datasheet of each range can be downloaded from the range page.
Ordering and payment
Which payment methods do you accept?
Cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Cartes Bancaires), Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and SEPA Direct Debit, through our secure payment provider Stripe, or bank transfer. See secure payment.
Can I pay by bank transfer?
Yes: choose “Bank transfer” at checkout. Our bank details and the reference to quote are displayed immediately and sent to you by email; production starts as soon as the transfer is received.
Are prices shown excluding or including VAT?
Prices are shown excluding VAT and exclusive of shipping. French VAT (20%) applies in France; EU businesses with a valid VAT number benefit from the reverse-charge mechanism, and deliveries outside the EU are VAT-exempt. The exact amount is calculated before payment.
Can I get a quote for my company?
Yes. For a company order, large quantities or a specific need, request a quote: we reply within 24 business hours with a detailed offer that can be paid by bank transfer.
Will I receive an invoice?
Yes, an invoice is sent by email for every order. Enter your EU VAT number at checkout so that it appears on it.
Is payment secure?
Yes. The site is fully served over HTTPS and payment is processed by Stripe, certified PCI-DSS Level 1. Your card details are encrypted and never pass through our servers; your bank may ask for 3-D Secure authentication.
Manufacturing and delivery
What is the delivery time?
All our conveyors are made to order: allow 1 to 2 weeks maximum between receipt of your payment and dispatch.
Transport then takes 1 to 3 business days within mainland France, 3 to 7 days within the European Union and 7 to 12 days for the rest of the world (excluding customs). For an urgent requirement, please contact us before ordering.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is a flat fee per order, whatever the number of conveyors, based on the delivery country:
| Destination | Shipping cost per order |
|---|---|
| France and Monaco | €35.00 excl. VAT |
| European Union | €45.00 excl. VAT |
| Europe outside the EU (Switzerland, United Kingdom, Norway…) | €55.00 excl. VAT |
| Africa, Réunion, Mayotte | €75.00 excl. VAT |
| Asia and Middle East | €75.00 excl. VAT |
| Central America and Caribbean | €75.00 excl. VAT |
| North America | €75.00 excl. VAT |
| Oceania, New Caledonia, French Polynesia | €80.00 excl. VAT |
| South America and French Guiana | €80.00 excl. VAT |
Flat rate per order, whatever the number of items. Amounts exclude VAT, which applies under the same rules as for products.
Do you deliver to my country?
Yes, we ship worldwide. For a few destinations, shipping is quoted on request: the site tells you at checkout, and you simply need to contact us.
How can I track my parcel?
As soon as your order ships, you receive the tracking number by email. Parcels are sent by La Poste (Colissimo) or express carrier depending on weight and destination.
Are there customs charges outside the European Union?
Products are invoiced without VAT. Any customs duties, import taxes and clearance fees are payable by the recipient, and customs formalities may extend delivery times.
Can I have my order delivered to another address?
Yes: at checkout, tick “Deliver to a different address” and enter the recipient’s address and name.
Returns and warranties
Can I return a product?
If you buy as a consumer, you have 14 days from receipt to withdraw, without giving a reason. Business purchases are not covered by this right, but a return of a new product may be accepted as a commercial gesture. See our refund policy.
Which warranty applies?
Consumers benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity (2 years) and the guarantee against hidden defects; business customers from the guarantee against hidden defects. Warranties exclude in particular wet, oily or unfiltered compressed air, pressure above 7 bar and normal abrasive wear. See our terms of sale.
What should I do if my parcel arrives damaged?
Check the parcel in front of the driver. If it is damaged, opened or incomplete, record precise reservations on the delivery note and contact us within 48 hours at contact@virtuavia.com with photos: we will quickly find a solution.
